In the Beginning
Formless, Waiting,
Raw Materials for something wonderful,
Like clay sitting on the potter's wheel
In a dark and empty room.
Passionate, Thoughtful,
Creator broods over the waters,
Like the potter envisioning his new creation,
Setting firmly in his mind the intricacies of the design.
Instantly, Startlingly,
Darkness gives way to light,
Like the flicking of a light switch
To reveal a workspace well prepared.
Approving, Satisfied,
God declares the light good,
Like the artist who finds the proper illumination
Which will accentuate his masterpiece.
Steadily, Purposefully,
Time begins to flow.
Day follows night as creation evolves
Under the skillful hands of God.
