Simple Faith
So many years have passed since the day I found you
And life has had so many twists and turns since then.
Looking back at reflections of our conversations I can't help but see
A simpler time where all the words rhymed and your Spirit inspired me.
I remember a simple faith, where there were no shades of gray.
Truth and lies were black and white, and your people were always right.
There were no doubts in this heart of mine.
Your word was sure and easily applied. The cross was all I needed to survive,
with my simple faith.
But time has come between simplicity and I.
Situations of my own making and situations beyond my control
Have scattered the light that once shown so bright,
and faded to gray what was once black and white,
leaving only the shadowy memory of times long ago.
I remember a simple faith, where there were no shades of gray.
Truth and lies were black and white, and your people were always right.
There were no doubts in this heart of mine.
Your word was sure and easily applied. The cross was all I needed to survive,
with my simple faith.
I long for the day when true restoration appears.
That time yet to come will be like long ago:
The ending of all doubts and fears
I am longing for that simple faith, where there are no shades of gray.
Truth and lies will be black and white, and your people will be truly right.
The doubts will fly from this heart of mine.
You'll speak to me and I will hear this time, I will know as I am known when I
Receive my simple faith.
I will know as I am known when I receive my simple faith.
