Faith Through the Storm
Jesus sailed across a sea with his disciples one night.
All that day he had taught the crowds till he was weary and worn.
So he fell asleep in the back of the ship,
And there arose a terrible storm.
The wind and waves rocked the boat.
Thunder and lightening came.
The sky grew dark, they lost their way,
And the disciples were sore afraid.
"Don't you care," they asked the Lord,
"That we are going to die?"
So he arose and rebuked the wind
And to the waves said, "Peace be still."
And the storm abated at his command,
Then he turned to them and said,
"Where is your faith my little ones?
Without faith you can not stand.
I've already brought you through so much.
How easily you forget.
Those the Father's placed in my hand
Destruction can not touch."
Like the disciples, we too,
Face the storms of life.
Sometimes we even call out to the Lord
In voices drawn and tight,
"Where are you Lord? Don't you care?
Why are you still asleep?
We're tossed about, we've lost our way,
We're falling into the deep!"
Then Jesus, our Lord, who awaits the call,
Comes up and takes control.
He pours out his love, which stills the storm,
And calms the troubled soul.
And the storms abate at his command,
Then he turns to you and says,
"Where is your faith, my little ones?
Without faith you can not stand.
I've already brought you through so much.
How easily you forget.
Those the Father's placed in my hand
Destruction can not touch."
On we go through storm and calm
Each and every day.
But soon the clouds will all depart
And the Lord our God will come to stay.
Then the storms of life will all abate
And he'll turn to you and say,
"I've seen your faith my little child,
And you have finished the race.
You have already done so much
That I will never forget,
And you who've been placed in my right hand
Will now have a time of rest."
