My Special Valentine
The greatest of the valentines
That I have ever known
Was Given to me
Several years ago.
It wasn't in an envelope
Sent by special main
And it wasn't in a box
From some well-known department store.
It was signed with love undying
In an ink of scarlet red.
It wasn't exactly in the words,
But how those words were said.
It expressed a love so tender,
And revealed a love so strong
That it made me cry to realize
He had chosen me as his special one.
It said, "With arms open wide,
I died for you.
With love in my eyes
I paid the price for you.
Even though you fell from grace,
I loved you and I took your place
So that we could be together
For all time.
You see, his love for me was stronger
Than I could possibly believe,
And it was through that love that over death
He rose victoriously.
Now he's gone back to that heavenly home
Beside the Crystal Sea,
But he promised that I shall be his bride
When he comes back for me.
His love is never changing
Even when my love grows weak.
Tears of shame begin to fill my eyes
As I hear him softly speak.
He says, "With arms open wide,
I died for you.
With love in my eyes,
I paid the price for you.
Even though you fell from grace,
I loved you, and I took your place
So that we could be together
For all time.
Now this valentine is special.
It was just for me, it's true.
But My Love told me to share it
Because there's also one for each of you.
Like mine, it's signed with love undying
In an ink of scarlet red.
Hold it close, you will discover
Loneliness comes to an end.
He will fill your heart with His love and peace
Which you've needed for so long,
And then with me you can finally sing
This great and glorious song:
With arms open wide,
He died for me.
With love in His eyes,
He paid the price for me.
He loved me, so he took my place.
He put to death my sinful state,
So that we will be together
For all time.
